Agriturismo "Giacomo"

You will find these pleasant holiday apartments at a height of 500 m. They command breathtaking views of the more rugged side of the Maiella Mountains and the picturesque relief that is the Guardiagrele near coastal area. Away from mass tourism, this is an ideal location to relax and get away from everyday life. If you've ever considered writing a book, this is the sort of romantic location you're looking for.

Location and activities

Situated directly next to the Maiella National park.
Guided tours can be arranged on request. Just ask Giacomo. The nearest shop is 3 km away. The nearest town with shops and restaurants - the picturesque Guardiagrele - is about 13 km away. Around a 30 minutes drive to the lively town of Lanciano. Around 45 minutes drive to the sandy beach at Ortona. Old monasteries and typical Abruzzi hillside villages and towns can all be found in the surrounding area. There are also castles and abbeys waiting to be discovered.

Cuisine

Its farming activities are spread across 13.5 hectares in the Chieti province. The farm grows cereals and olives. Great store is set by maintaining traditional farming methods. The rediscovery of "old-world" plant types such as the high-grade Farro corn (Emmer wheat) enables the farm to operate without pesticides. The Giacomo estate is famous for its production of Farro. Farro is an easy-to-digest cereal crop that helps to reduce stress thanks to its high magnesium content. It is particularly rich in mineral salts and does not send blood sugar levels soaring. This means, then, that it's especially good for athletes and those needing constantly high energy levels (it was also the main staple food for the legionnaires of Rome). Indeed, Farro is also a fitting product for diabetics and people wanting to lose weight without having to go without good food.

The Agriturismo's produce is grown in accordance with organic certification (AMAB = Associazione mediterranea agricoltura biologica). Giacomo, the owner and a former engineer, sells his high-quality products at home and abroad. We decided to taste his fantastic olive oil, his Farropasta and his Minestre and were truly impressed.

Giacomo's products offer a unique way to rediscover taste!

Where you'll be staying

This 18th century villa stands on its own and has recently been extended. It now provides accommodation for 3 holiday apartments: "Giallo", "Rosso" and "Blu", with differing sleeping capacities.

All of the country-style apartments are tastefully furnished with their own open fireplace and terrace or balcony. The apartment "Rosso" has both a terrace and a large balcony with view of the mountains.

The arched cellar in the basement offers a quite place for reading and listening to music (CD player).

There is also a nice barbeque area with oven (pizza) outside.
