Known as the "White Queen of Apulia", the town of Ostuni with its narrow winding allies, steps, small archways and whitewashed buildings is reminiscent of an Arabian medina. Only five minutes away from this beautiful mountain town with its exceptional architectural heritage and surrounding olive groves is the "Lucia" villa estate. Here you and your family can look forward to enjoying a relaxing and varied holiday in the south of Italy.

Where you'll be staying

This old 18th-century stone-built farmhouse is peacefully located on a four-hectare plot of land. It is surrounded by olive trees that are centuries old and has been run as a family concern for more than twenty years. The owners have been particularly careful to retain as much of its original character and structure as possible while renovating the building.

Divided amongst three buildings, there are 3 apartments and 8 rooms available for rent. Apartment "Mono" with approx. 30 m² offers a double room, a bathroom with shower and a kitchen. Both the "Bilos" (approx. 45 m²) have two bedrooms, including one double room, a bathroom with shower as well as an eat-in kitchen. The accommodation has been flawlessly renovated in Apulian architectural style and some interiors feature circular arches and stone floors. In addition some are equipped with air conditioning (please check when booking).

Porches, balconies and lots of alcoves equipped with tables and chairs, under the shade of palm trees, invite you to relax in the well-kept outdoor facilities.

The rooms feature differing styles and accessories. Both the "Classic Double Rooms" are rustic and a perfect fit for two people. The double room "Chiesa" has a kitchenette with electric cooker and sink. The "Classic Family Room" has two bedrooms and offers space for families with 2 children.

The Suite-Room "Aranceto" has recently been completed in the former solidly-built orangery. It is composed of a parents' room and a living room with two sofas, that can be transformed into two single beds on request. The dimmed lighting and waterfall shower ensure relaxation and wellbeing. The room is equipped with air conditioning, minibar, Lcd TV and safe. WiFi is at your disposal. The suite has a furnished, private terrace with roof.

3 Superior Rooms have recently been completed. With their chalk white walls, various timber and stone features as well as some circular arches they create the perfect frame for a treasured stay for two. All of them are equipped with heating, air conditioning, minibar, Lcd TV, safe and WiFi connection. In “Acquaro” room there is also a clock radio with integrated USB port for your MP3 player.

Room "Camino" on the ground floor is about 20 m² and has a fireplace. The shower cabin is equipped with a hydro massage. It has a private roofed terrace.

Another room on the ground floor is the double room "Acquaro" (20 m²). The simple elegance has been enlivened by the oriental charm of a Turkish bath. The comfortable 50°C temperature with colour and aroma therapy make you really relax. A furnished outdoor space (table, chairs and sun loungers) is at your disposal.

The room "Deposito" is about 25 m² and features a double bed and sofa which can be transformed into a single bed. Here, too, the highlight is the Turkish bath. A furnished outdoor space (table, chairs and sun loungers) is at your disposal.

It almost goes without saying, of course, that you can also look forward to sampling and purchasing local produce from its semi-organic farm, as well as full-bodied wines and high-quality olive oils. Just imagine sampling some delicious traditional Apulian fare in the lovely restaurant with open fireplace. Health food and vegetarian meals are also available on request. There is also a cookery course for those that fancy learning a little about Italian cooking.

Location and activities

The grounds surrounding the holiday accommodation comes complete with sunbeds, parasols, a large swimming pool ( 8 x 15 m) with neck hydro-massage system and Jacuzzi for up to 8 persons (pool season: about mid may - sept. 30, +/- 2 days depending on the wheather). There is also a mountain bike hire service and a table tennis table.

Children can visit the animals of the agriturismo such as goats and geese

If going for an invigorating swim in the sea is more your thing, it's only a ten minutes' drive to the nearest sandy beach. For families with children we would also recommend visiting the "Selva di Fasano" safari zoo, the largest of its kind in Italy (20 minutes by car). It is spread out across an open area of 120 hectares. Italy's second largest cave, the Castellana grotto, is also nearby (ca. 40 minutes by car): Here you can marvel at the filigree stalactite and stalagmite formations in the famous "Grotta bianca" and learn about all the things that make Italy's most spectacular karst cave so special on one of the hourly guided tours!

Excellent shopping facilities, great restaurants and the chance to experience orthodox rituals in the Romanesque Cathedral of "St. Nicholas" are all on offer in the Apulian capital of Bari. Located right next to the Adriatic Sea, Bari is just a 60-minute drive away. Alberobello, the town of the Trullis, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 is also well worth a visit (35 km). The capital of baroque, Lecce, is a 60-minute drive away. If nothing else, you should certainly take the time to enjoy the oriental Arabian flair of Ostuni, the queen of this region!
